A soft little glow-up for your favorite pattern ✨🌸🧺

Want to add something dreamy to your Pretty Little Dress?

This soft ruffle hack goes right into the armhole and gives the dress a whole new vibe – subtle, sweet, and super easy. It’s the kind of detail that feels special but takes just a few extra steps. You’ll do this right after Step 15 in the instructions.

What You’ll Need ✂️🧷☁️

  • Your Pretty Little Dress bodice
  • Fabric for the ruffle
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron
  • Pins or clips

Step 1: Measure the Armhole📏✨🎀

After Step 15, lay your bodice flat and measure the curve of one armhole.

To find the ruffle length:
Armhole × 2 = ruffle strip length

Step 2: Cut + Hem the Ruffles ✂️

Cut two strips using the length you just calculated.
Each one should be:

  • Length = armhole × 2
  • Width = 5.5 cm (2 1/5 inches)

Hem one long edge of each strip:

  1. Fold up 1 cm (⅜ inch) and press
  2. Fold again 1 cm (⅜ inch), press
  3. Stitch to finish it neatly

Step 3: Gather the Top 🧵💫🎀

Sew two rows of gathering stitches along the raw edge using the longest stitch length on your machine:

  • First row: 0.5 cm (¼ inch) from the edge
  • Second row: 1.5 cm (⅝ inch) from the edge

Pull gently on the threads to gather until the ruffle matches the armhole.

Step 4: Pin to the Armhole 🧷🌸🤍

With right sides together, pin the ruffle to the armhole, lining up the raw edges. Take your time to space the gathers evenly – it’ll look so clean when it’s done.

Step 5: Sew the Ruffle + Keep Going 🪡✨🎀

Sew the ruffle in place with a regular stitch – and that’s it for the hack!

You can now move on to Step 16 in the pattern instructions.

🌷🎀☁️ It’s kind of magic how one little ruffle can change the whole mood.

Soft, simple, and exactly the vibe. Obsessed 💘
